I have found a nice colt AR15A3 which I'm am thinking about buying. It has a detachable carry handle with sights. I would like to put a scope on it. I am on fixed income and can't afford a high dollar scope. I would like one for target shooting at about 100 yards. Not worried about competition type groups. Any suggestions on a scope which won't break the bank

Check out the Weaver Classic V-Series Rifle Scope 2.5-7x 32mm Dual-X Reticle Matte, it won't break the bank.  The product number is Weaver 849399.

Thanks guys. After looking at some of the mentioned choices and reading the FAQ, I realize that I need to do a lot of research. I am new to this and need to become aquainted with the terminology and mounting methods. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow with iron sights and see just what these old eyes can do.

Mueller makes some nice, reasonably-priced  scopes that have proven very popular.

Oh, please don't be swayed by the prices and "features" of the Barska/NcStar/etc. scopes.
Buying one of those will get you the "He chose poorly" response from Arfcom.
