You guys were so much help with the color question. (May go with an OD lower portion) I thought I'd ask about the install of my soon to be, SIR 58M. I have read in numerous posts here about, gutting out the "delta ring"? To install this. I can't remove my MB, and dont want to pay to ship the upper two ways, have the MB removed, the SIR installed, and the MB remounted. (this is postban obviously so the MB is perm) I have looked at the parts diagrams on this site and dont see any mention of this delta ring. Is this the Handguard slip ring? Or the piece behinf the FSB? Also what specifically must be removed, and do you have any technique tips? Thanks guys and I eagerly await your suggestions! -Hershey |

the delta ring is the tapered spring loaded aluminum ring that you pull back to take off your handguards, take a dremel cutting bit, and carefully, carefully, CAREFULLY cut a line through it, then you can pry it apart with pliers and pull it off, you may also have to cut through the ring under it which gives it that spring loaded affect, i don't think gunsmithes touch the MB when doing a delta ring switch out they just remove the barrel and leave the ring off when they put it back on |
