So local gun shop has a SOTA Arms upper, with dust cover and forward assist for $60. Any reason to say no to that? I searched Google and saw a few years ago people having some complaints about their barrels, but nothing in general about the actual upper

Absolutely. Sub-par products, company will tell you to pound sand if you have a problem. I speak from experience.

Just say NO! to SOTA arms.
