I just picked up an SP!.
I am not sure when it was made.

I looked it up on http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/ar15serial.html
but it looks like mine has more numbers??

Can someone tell me when mine was made??

Thanks
Jeff

My SN is 6 digits long
in the SP114XX1 range

The ones listed on the web site only have 5 digets.

I apreciate the info.

Yep, my new SP1 looks like a '80.

It seems cosmetically imperfect compaired to my Target Sporter model.  My target is flawless.
The SP1 seems to have much rougher forging marks and all around not as well finished off but the parkerizing looks good.

The upper and lower look quite good but the color seems a bit off if you look closely.
Was that normal to have the upper and lower not match 100%?

Are some years finished better than others or just some are better from time to time?

Thanks
Jeff

This is normal. They could have been in two different anodizing batches.

Does the final finishing of the casting vary between all years?
My Sporter Target is flawless, my SP1 has flash where the two half's meet between the grip and stock.
Also there are imperfections on the lower receiver on the flat side of the mag well, imperfections from the cast, almost like pits, not smooth like the Sporter Target.
