After having our 1st child this past fall, I didn't get a chance to shoot my AR much since last summer but finally got to take it out this weekend. It was a sunny day, and although a 6 to 8 setting would normally work, I needed to use an 11 setting today. One of my buddies has shot my gun several times, and even he mentioned that it seemed dim. When I got home, I replaced the battery with a new one, and it didn't seem to make it any better. 1) Has anybody heard of such a problem? 2) Who would I call if I wanted to return it? I bought it from Mountsplus.com, but they aren't the manufacturer. I probably should have bought an Aimpoint, but until today, I've been EXTREMELY pleased with the SPOT. Thanks for the help, guys. Yeah, I'll give that a shot tonight. I wouldn't think that corrosion would occur over a winter's storage in a safe with humidity controls (i.e. the plug-in heater bar), but it's worth a shot anyhow. If not, I might give the folks at Mountsplus a call to see if they have any info on the manufacturer. Nick |
| I came home tonight and took apart the battery compartment, but I didn't see any corrosion. I cleaned it anyhow and put the cap on extra tight, and after that, the brightness seemed to be better. Maybe the cap just wasn't making good contact?!? Anyhow, the true proof will be taking it to the range on a sunny day. More to come... |
had the same thing happen, mountplus will not call me back or e-mail back . next tiome i'll buy an aimpoint |

You may try using a very fine sandpaper and adjusting the contacts up. Mike @ CSGW www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on AR15.com FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on Snipersparadise FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on the HIDE |

I think that this was all in my head. I took it out to the range yesterday, and it seemed just fine to me. Regardless, I'm still thinking about upgrading to an Aimpoint, but I would have no idea what I would sell the SPOT for. It is in good shape, and I've put on a knock-off ARMS #22M68 mount on it. What is a reasonable asking price? They are going new for $165, and the mount cost me $40. $150 sound reasonable? |
Ok gang, I'm back to square one. I went back out today, and it was unbelieveably dim. Even on setting 11, I couldn't even see any of the dot, and it wasn't even that sunny. Another guy at the range had an EOTech, and his center dot was plenty bright under the same conditions at about 1/2 power. While I was still at the range, I took the battery cap off, made sure that the contacts were clean, bent them out slightly to make better compression to the battery, and even replaced the battery, but no such luck. The only thing that I have left is to buy new batteries, but my spare batteries were only 2 years old and were probably just fine anyhow. The only other thing that I might do is e-mail the folks at Mountsplus and see if there is a way to repair it. Any more "bright" ideas? ;o) Nick |
