I just got through putting a couple hundred rounds through an Armalite M15A4 carbine & the SPROING noise from the spring/recoil buffer in the stock is the worst I've ever experienced. I mean BAD, real Bad !!! ![]() What's the best solution ?!??? |

[smart ass mode on] Shoot it without hearing protection [:P] [smart ass mode off] I pulled the trigger on my AR once before I realized that I hadn't put on my ear muffs. Not only didn't I hear the sproingggg, I couldn't hear ANYTHING for about 5 minutes.[%|] I thought about this before and wondered if a tough plastic liner (maybe delrin) would muffle the spring sound. I'm not sure how much clearance there is between the spring coils and the buffer tube, though. |

Quoted: I mean BAD, real Bad !!! [:x*] What's the best solution ?!??? Assuming you have shot many carbine AR-15s in the past, and think this SPROING is way beyond normal SPROING, you might consider checking to make sure the system is properly assembled, and that the parts are OK? |

Well this is one of 7 AR's I own/have owned over the years & I've never had one this bad. In fact I currently have 2 with CAR stocks that aren't nearly as loud. I guess I'll take the A2 stock off & have a look at the buffer & spring. Will a Wolff srping make any difference ?? |
