I've seen several pics of operators using SPRs with a vertical foregrip, and I would like to try it myself. However, I have a Model 12 Mark 0, which means that I would have to spend a LOT more time in the weight room to make it comfortable to shoot the rifle with a KAC or other vert. foregrip, since the 6 o'clock rail on the PRI FF fore-end is very short and is mounted VERY far forward (extreme muzzle end) on the rifle, making offhand shooting using a vert. grip very hard. (With this in mind, I suppose then that one of the main advantages of the Model 12 Mark 1 SPR is that the KAC FF fore-end allows the mounting of a vert. grip anywhere along its long 6 o'clock rail.) However, I have seen a couple of pics (there's a good one over at specwargear.com) of SPR Model 12 Mark 0s that have a modification to the PRI fotrend allowing the mounting of a KAC vertical foregrip further back on the rifle (toward the receiver). Anyone have any idea of how to do this, or if anyone out there offers this as a service? Thanks in advance for the info. Will |
| PRI sells rails (3" and 8.5") on their web page that can be added to the foreend. They're easy to install with a drill press (drill slowly and use tape on the front/back side to minimize ragged edges). |

Thanks guys. I'm really surprised that I've never seen that long PRI rail before--I'm not sure how I missed it? It looks like exactly what I want! Anyone know what's involved with the install (frankly, I'm not all that handy)? If you don't need to drill them but just bolt 'em on I'll be in business... Bigbore, what's the price on one of these things? Do you install, too? Thanks again. Will |

Thanks Bigbore. I'll be calling you. Va-Dinger, sorry but I never figured out how to post pics here. The somewhat famous SPR Model 12 Mark 0 pic that several people have posted over time (I think it originally came from Lumpy?) that's in the original MSTN SPR history thread shows an operator using a Model 12 Mark 0 with a vert. grip. There is also one at Specwargear.com. The cover of SOF magazine a couple months ago also had a SOF soldier with a Model 12 Mark 1 with a vert grip...hope this helps. Will |
