Looking for suggestions on a magnified optic for my upcoming SPR build.  Looking for 1-6x, 2.5-10x, 3-9x somewhere in that league.  FFP and illumination, the reticle isn't a deal-breaker as most optics seem to have more than one reticle type and I'm sure ill be able to work with it.  Here's the catch, would like to stay under $800.  I have been looking hard at the PST 2.5-10 FFP, but again, that hits that 800 price point that I was hoping to undershoot a little bit.  I did find a Bushnell Elite Tactical SMRS 1-6x FFP BTR-1 here on the EE for what seemed to be a great price (650) but haven't heard back from the guy.  Any other options out there in that magnification and price range that have FFP and illumination?

Thanks in advance fellas.

SWFA 1-6X - List is $999, but there is one on the Samplelist.com at $799.

SWFA 1-6X

SWFA 3-9X is another excellent option but lack illumination so may be a deal breaker.

SWFA 3-9X

I have the SWFA 1-6X on a 308 AR and it is an exceptional scope.  Reaching out to 600 yards on steel has very predictable results.  Glass is exceptional for the price point with very good clarity and contrast.

You aren't the first to suggest the SS1-6.  If I can manage to get the Bushnell et1624 for 650 or less, should I hop on it fast?  What are your thoughts on Bushnell's mid-higher quality optic range?  Only had experience with their 1-4 pcl ar optic which, for the money, was acceptable (think I paid 125 for it at the time.)  That SS has crossed my computer screen multiple times, but its still at that $800 mark.

The Bushnell Elite is a solid scope and if you can get it for $650, should be an easy decision.  It is a few ounces lighter than the SWFA, which is a plus in its favor.

You don't need FFP in the magnification ranges you are talking about IMO.  You aren't ever going to want to mil anything on less than max power, and for taking shots past battle sight zero distance, you will also want max power.  If you eliminate that requirement, it opens your options up quite a bit, especially considering your price range.  I'd look real hard at the Leupold VX-R 3-9x40 for an SPR optic.  Great reticle, great illumination, real good glass.

I purchased the SWFA 1-6x 24 from the Samplelist about a month ago.  Honestly, I tried to find something wrong with it but could not find even a scratch.  Seemed to be brand new!  I too am running it on a .308 AR and as reported by Marine 24, its good at least to 600 yards.  The glass is clear and images are sharp.  At 1x there is a circle on the reticle that is perfect for CQB distances.  At higher magnification the circle disappears and you have nice cross hairs with cross hatches in mils.  Seems pretty bombproof.

You guys think the vortex PST 2.5-10x ffp is worth $60 more than the Bushnell elite tac 1-6x?  I've got good offers on both.  The PST ends up $60 more in the end, but the Bushnell is far more of a discount from msrp.  There has to be a reason that the Bushnell is half off msrp when the round count is only 100 on it.  Makes me think the bushy is lesser quality
