I took my SPR to the 100yd range today for the first time, but I noticed something weird; my brass was ejecting at 2:00 in front of me, instead of at about 4-5:00 behind me.

I know the fixes for this are; heavier buffer, better sprint, and M16 BCG. I already have a Spikes T2 buffer, and I think my standard SA carrier is fine...I would like recommendations on a spring, though.

Does anyone have experience with the CS, Tubbs, or larue super duty chrome silicon springs?

My 16" carbine does the same, ever since I put a new gas block on it...I think its undergassed now in comparison to before...

There's nothing wrong with your rifle ejecting brass at 2:00.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So assuming it shoots without malfunctions, don't dick with it.

Yeah, theres the 'if it aint broke' route also. It works fine, though...

I also isntalled a new low-pro gas block and it's doing it now...Supposedly that means it's 'overgassed'..

What type of ammo? I added a Spikes Buffer and a Larue Buffer Spring, when to the range and was ejecting at 2:00 about 4 feet out. I was like so I switched back to the stock setup and was still getting the same results, I was like . I was shooting 62gr Fiochi and 75gr Prvi where I had almost always shot 55gr before. I was told it is the hotter ammo and as long as it is ejecting to not worry about it. I just added a M16 carrier, but haven't had time to test it yet.

My 14.5" mid-length ejected at 1:00. Threw in a Spikes T2 buffer and it ejects at 3:00-4:00. Didn't have an issues before or after. It cycles a little smoother now though.

I WOULD like to have a little bit smoother operation/recoil, since it's a precision rifle.

I was shooting:

PMC bronze .223 55grn
PRVI 5.56 55grn
Federal wally world bulk .223 55grn
Hornady red box .223 55grn
Speer gold dot 62grn
Hornady TAp FPD 75grn

They all did the same thing. In my recce that I had with me, all the same ammo ejected at 4:00 in a nice little pile behind me.

changing the gas block isnt going make it "over gassed".

I agree.  All of my rifles have a slightly different ejection "pattern".  They all work, so I don't care where the brass goes.  My 16" middy tosses them at about 2o'clock, my SPR throws them to about 5 o'clock.  All others are usually in between, regardless of ammo.  If it runs, I leave it alone.  Unless you have a specific and valid reason for where the brass goes, I would leave it be.

My BCM 16" midlength tosses them to 2 o'clock. M16 BCG, standard carbine buffer.
