I ordered a WOA upper with their 18" SPR contour barrel, rifle length gas today. It won't be done for 6 months so I have lots of time to think about the other components. I have built one other AR before, or I guess I should say, I ordered a complete upper and built the lower. I am not trying to build a Mk 12 clone, just a variant.
One thing I have not decided is what stock to use. I see that the Mk 12 and several builds on here use an A2 stock but I have read that there can be cheek weld issues if using the Larue LT 104 scope mount. Some have used rubber pipe insulation on the stock to build it up to resolve this but I'm not sure about doing that. Is there another Larue mount that lowers the scope so this is not needed? As far as other stocks to consider, Larue puts CTRs on their OBRs, what do you guys think about that? That is what I put on my earlier build and like it fine. I know the PRS has adjustments, but DANG, it's pricey. SOPMOD stock? Should I stay away from collapsible stocks? |

So, that went well...
Did I not get any responses because: A. My question was all fucked up B. My post count is too low C. There were no pictures D. Everyone's too busy posting in the Yeager thread in GD Anyway, the stock I like the best is the UBR but I have not used one before. And it is expensive. I was hoping for a less expensive alternative. For those that have used a UBR on a scoped rifle, is the cheek weld situation GTG when using the Larue LT-104? I have not read anything about anyone needing to build it up to get a good view down the scope like I have with the A2 stock. Other alternatives either with stock or mount that I should consider? |
