Hello,
I would like to purchase a Knight's SR-15, but have some question for those who had experience with them.

First question,
Does it have solid lock up? Is the upper and lower tightly locked together by the pins?
Second,
How is the Free Float Rail? anything wobble on it?
and Finally,
Where should I get my SR15 from?

Thanks

I only have the SR-15 upper. It locks up really tight with my Stag lower and the fit is actually spot on. I don't know how it locks up with the KAC lower (I can almost assure you that tight fit is not part of KAC's objective function).

Regarding the rail, there is no wobble whatsoever. It's one of the best rails out there. It's super light, very strong, and the integral front sight is awesome.

I would contact Casey Seng at Lawmen's for purchase. You might save money getting the lower and upper separate, but I'm not sure.

I have one. Upper and lower. There is a tiny bit of play between upper and lower very little and nothing a o ring wouldnt fix if it bothers you. The rail is solid. Its the best gun I have ever shot. You won't regret getting one.

OP-The amount of play between the upper & lower will vary between individual rifles.

If you're worried about the upper and lower fit I would try to look for a dealer near your area so you can see and feel it first hand....Mine has a tiny bit of play but nothing drastic, I have other AR's that are worse.

The rail in my opinion is the best in the market right now. The only modification I made to mine was adding a MIAD and a CTR.

I have a lower and it is great. The built in ambi controls are real nice. Fit with other uppers will vary from receiver to receiver. Knights URX rails are GTG. There is a nice deal going on still. Check the Industry section for the Knights lower thread.

excellent rifle....just wish mine was SBR'ed from the factory. URX is solid. Re upper/lower play, unless you are shooting matches beyond 300, not really an issue. if it bothers youthat much, you can thrown in an Accuwedge to tighten things up. not really needed though.

I have the SR15 in tan, very little play between upper and lower. Rail system is rock solid, great trigger, very accurate with BH 77 GR moly otm. Put a Leatherwood CMR with Burris mount and it is a great rifle. I have several (11) other ARs and the SR15 is the best all round I have.

So I guess SR15 is as good or even better than Colt when it comes to upper and lower fit?
I had a 6940 and hated the wobble from the upper and lower, it was really loose.

What is the normal price for a SR15?

As another poster said - it will vary from rifle to rifle.  Upper and lower fit is not really an important thing and it is not an indicator of quality in any way shape or form.  Nor does it affect accuracy or reliability.  If it is your main concern when purchasing a rifle make sure you do it in person so you can check before you buy.  That way there will be no disappointment after the fact.  Just because your 6940 was "loose" doesn't mean they all are and just because someone else's SR15 is tight doesn't mean they all are.

Go to the Industry section under the "Knights lower deal still on" thread, as I stated before in my post. Then you will know what they cost.

Slight play in my black E3 and no play in my tan E3..I have way more rounds through the black one (4000+) and have not expirienced a malfunction to date and it is just as accurate as any of my other CL barreled AR's. Fit and finish, while improtant to some, is not the end all be all in determining the reliabilty of a rifle..I have a couple of Noveske's uppers and no matter what lower I out it on (16 different ones), I have to use a punch to get it off..

In the March issue of Small Arms Review you will see an article I did on the SR-15. It is a premium Black rifle which you will have no disappointed. It is solid in every way. The rifle I had had no wiggle and with the tight LMT SOPMOD stock felt very solid and high quality. The URX is just as solid as any monolithic upper and the integrated back up front sight is awesome. The ambi features are great, especially the ambi bolt release. I only had one dissapointment which was the trademark KAC chrome bolt carrier group, the SR15 had mil-spec manganese phosphate, I liked the chrome. But I am sure Reed had his reasons for the change. I have seen several on Gunbroker.
