I seen a post on this before but can seem to find it.
Off the top of your heads does anyone know some good flash hiders that has the same threads for the SR 556? Pretty much same threads where they just screw on? Or is someone knows that link can just post that link. |

How do I remove the flash suppressor on my rifle?
A Torx T60 bit can be used to remove the suppressors, all of which are installed with standard, right hand threads. All newly made (2009+) rifles (except the SR-556C and CLA models; the flash hiders for these models are integral to the barrel and not removable) are threaded ½-28 (22 and 223 caliber) or 5/8-24 (6.8 and 30 cal.). |
| Is is me or is that statement from Ruger confusing? The flash suppressor on my SR556E does not require a Torx bit that I can see. but why is the flash suppressor on the SR556C and CLA not removable? Or is it all rifles made after 2009 except the C and CLA have removable flash suppressors?? |

I don't know about California guns, but the SR556C has a 14.5" barrel, and the permanent flash hider makes the barrel a legal 16.1". Eta: The shortened and fluted barrel are Ruger's attempts to lighten the weight of their SR556. It cuts half a pound of weight off the front of the carbine. I fondled one, and I really like the way it feels. Maybe my next AR purchase? Anybody wanna trade my AR Spikes Dissipator for one? |

That's because there are no flat sides for a wrench and no solid side on the bottom of the birdcage to prevent blowong dirt with the muzzle blast. I'm just guessing, but it looks like it would work. |

ok im not understanding this as im new to the whole AR thing, but where exactly is it i put the torx to take this ugly flash hider off? I just feel like if i put a wrench around it, i would start to remove the barrel? pics would be appreciated I believe a T60 should fit straight in the end. T60 is a fairly large bit/wrench. Picture the exit end of the stock FH as a large torx head. I have heard the are tight. Probably need a barrel vise or at least someone else to hold it. Again, IM me if you want to get rid of it. |
