I was having a little fun with my bench grinder... houghtThis SS109 is from LC M855.
Just thought I would share the visual.
I had to practice my picture posting; these are my first.
(1200 dpi and 30 dpcm 50 dpmm, respectively, for those interested)

ETA: thanks for catching the error on the scale.  photoshop got the better of me.  would you believe me if i said i worked for NASA?
anyway, now it made sure i got the math right.  the original pic (first one) was scanned at 1200 dots per inch.  i let photoshop scale the image to 50 dots per mm.  maybe this scaling was off and that's why the overall length is off by 0.1mm?  or maybe manufacturing tolerances are that tight/loose?  i give you my results, undoctored.

Um... I think your scale on the picture may be off a bit...Decimal point is one too far to the right. Darn metric system.

Very nice picture though.

Great photos, but yeah your scale is messed up, looks more like an artillery shell than a bullet lol. Even if you move the decinal to the right, doesnt 38.2 mm or 3.82 centimeters seem a bit large? 2.54 cm in an inch. So 1.50 inches long? hmm

According to TM43-0001-27 The M855 projectile is 23.0mm long nominal. Still a great pic, and the info can easily be corrected. Doing a little math your actual numbers should be...

0, 2.9mm, 10.8mm, 12mm, 13.2mm, 23mm approximately

When I was shooting Radway at mild steel plates I would find the cone shaped penatrators laying around or still stuck in the steel.
If the pic shows up here are some of the damaged penatrators I found. They look different sizes.

Why doesn't this work?
