M4 LE (Carbine Gas System) M4 LE

or

ST-Mid Length LE (Mid Length Gas System) Mid-Length

Besides the gas systems, all other specs are the same. I am on the fence on which one to buy. I love the looks of the M4, but word is that the mid-length has better reliability.

If you had to chose between these two, which one would it be and why? Thanks for all input!

Middy..

Longer sight radius
Gas system optimal for less wear of internal upper parts

Pretty sure there are other factors but, couldn't think of any at the moment..

I'd get the middie. The longer gas system makes for a smoother operating rifle due to decreased pressures and more dwell time between strokes.

carbines have been used fine for years.
I first ordered the midlength and saw too long of a wait on them and went with another carbine.
Middy might be more optimal though, but for a regular handler, you might not notice a difference

I'm having the same dilemma. I'm leaning towards the middy version right now, but it seems like it changes on a daily basis. I mainly just shoot irons anyhow.

When handling them side by side, can you tell any difference in the mid-length because of the longer hand guards?

Well, you can hold the midlength farther out...As for weight, they are practically identical.

Ordered a middy a few weeks ago. Should *HOPEFULLY* ship this week. Pretty sure I'll be more happy with it rather than a carbine. But no worries maaaaaaaan....order one, if you don't like it just add to the arsenal with their wonderful prices, and buy an upper!! Haha

I own both, carbines and middys. I love both but lean towards the middy for most of my shooting. They both do exactly the same thing, but the middys are just a little more comfortable for a lot of shooting and the sight radius is noticably an improvement over the shorter carbine.
I do not find weight an issue, there are more benefits than detractions. A carbine is good, but middys are gooder

If you plan to use only irons, then hands down go mid-length, it provides a larger sight radius.

After owning a bunch of carbines I got the middy as well. I would say it is an improvement for me.

If I was going to get one or the other, I'd get the middy. My brother just got one in and it is nice!
