I submitted a scope to SWFA for trade in, requested a trade in value of about what the street price is for the scope.  They flat out rejected me and made no counter offer.  I want a scope they have listed on their sample list.  Is any one familiar with there trade in program?  Perhaps know the formula they use?

For example: they buy scopes condition "Demo A" for %60 of street price and offer %80 of street price in trade value. "Demo B": Buy at %45 / Trade at %70

I am sure they have such a formula to use, it only makes sense for them to operate the trade in program in such a way.  Does anyone have experience with this or anything info on how the trade-ins work?

Thanks

Here is the problem:

So you wanted them to credit a trade value on a used scope that is above their cost for an identical new scope.

Have you considered listing your scope on ebay?  (but don't expect someone to buy a used scope that they can find a new one "street price")

"So you wanted them to credit a trade value on a used scope that is above their cost for an identical new scope."  No, I did not request an amount above the value of the scope new  (although they may have misunderstood me because the asking price was for the scope and mount).  The amount I requested for trade value was slightly below the street price of the scope + Mount + accessories.  I do think that this may have caused confusion so I resubmitted 2 separate forms, 1 for the scope, 1 for the mount.   Again the asking price (for trade value)  is below the street price.

I am trying to get an idea of how their trade in system works.

Regarding ebay, they charge too much in fees.  The %10 (I think it is) they would take off the same is a significant amount of cash for a high dollar product like this scope.

They have to make money, which means your almost always better off posting your stuff for sale in the EE.

I agree and prefer to use the forums.... I like the community aspect to it.  Sort of like buying from your village dealer, but the village is virtual.   I figured the SWFA trade in would be a good deal but that is yet to be determined.

You'll probably get about 25% less than you would on the EE. I've done it once. It was convenient,  but I wouldn't do it gain
