I've bought things from SWFA for a few times and I can say they are honest folks that I will do business with again.

However, this morning when I got to my office, I received a spam email (among the hundreds I get everyday) from an email address [email protected] (where xxxx is my company's unique site name). It basically describe a riflescope.com sale that is going on.

Personally I have no problem if I receive an email from riflescope.com saying they have a sale going on, afterall I consider myself a happy customer of them. But to hide its true original address and morph into my own company's address is a blatant spamming technique that only low life spammer will practice (because that's a low life way of getting through spam filters). I really don't think a reputable company should practice that kind of scumware method.

I don't know anything about this stuff, but the one I got came from here- http://www.bcentral.com/products/lb/default.asp

Could ms listbuilder (is that a service or product?) be responsible?

Hit the "Click here to change or remove your subscription" link at the bottom of the email and get off of their list.

What ????? Asking to be taken off a mailing list via e-mail is the easiest way to get on even more mailing lists. If you respond to spam, the send has verification that the e-mail address is valid and will continue to send spam.

hycheng, contact SWFA by phone and tell them you want to be taken off their list. Make a note of who you speak with, the date and time. If you get another piece of spam from them, call them back, tell them that you've already called (referring with whom you spoke and when). Chances are you'll be off after the first phone call.

They are using my own company's address, I don't think I can block that.

I can usually be found on every 4th Sunday@ 200yds range in Santa Clara County Fields Sport range with at least one of my SPR. CU there.

Back when then last round of virii went around I got several pieces of mail from SWFA, among other gun oriented sites. I had never contacted SWFA, or any of the others, via email. I figured the return address had been spoofed by the virus and whoever really sent me the post must have had my address and SWFAs in their address book.

Was it really spam? Like, "Buy 2 scopes get a 3rd for three times the cost?"

My "donut" came from SWFA, yet, I don't have any new spam.  I use filters to send garbage off to the dump, as Kisara so wisely suggests.

hycheng, did you sign up for email updates on the SWFA website?
I started getting those same emails after I did.  Since I signed up for them, I don't consider them spam.
If you didn't sign up for anything, then I can see why you're concerned.
Matt_B, I was [red]ASS[/red]uming that he signed up for their list. [:E]

I really don't know if they kept my order email in their mailing list or not. What really border me and make me want to share with members of this forum is that it seems SWFA has farm out their email job to a spamming company or at least using their software.

In worst case that means your email address has been given to an email spammer, the best case (if there is one) is they have directly supported a scumware spammer by purchasing their product and use it in house.

Neither of them are good business practice in my book.

Like I said before, send me an email with your full company identity and I will be glad to read it or delete it at my own choosing.

We are not quilty of the accusations.  If you no longer want mail from us then please remove your self from the opt in list.

Thanks,

Adventure Photo Contest

The rules for the Adventure Photo Contest are very basic and simple, making it
possible for anyone to win. Take a picture that includes a product you bought
from SWFA, Inc. and submit it along with a story. The best picture and story
combination wins the Grand Prize (Leica 10x42 Ultravid), the best nine after
that win prizes 2-10 valued at $8,500.00. Pictures can be anything from hunts,
vacations, sporting events, or races -- it does not matter as long as the
product you purchased from us is in the picture and has relevance in the story.
You must be in our data base as purchasing the product on or after January 1,
2003 and, most importantly, that product must be in the picture you submit. The
contest ends at midnight Jan. 31, 2004. Ten finalists will be named at that

Burris Combo deal

Burris 3-9x40 Fullfield II, Ballistic Plex rifle scope in matte finish, packaged
with a Burris 20x50 compact Landmark spotting scope. Both are sealed in one
package and are 100% new in the box.

You get both for only $197.95

Trajectory Compensation. The Ballistic Plex reticle is a simple way to improve
long range marksmanship. The lower part of the crosshair has ballistic lines
that compensate for bullet drop from 100 yards to 500 yards and beyond.
Landmark
Compact 20x50mm Spotting Scope

What huge performance in such a small affordable package! The simplicity of
fixed power allows for fewer optical compromises so you get optimum optical
design at 20x magnification. This also means a larger field of view, lighter
weight, more compact, and more durable. If that's not enough, this dandy little
spotter is also waterproof and fogproof! With only one moving part, there's not
much that can go wrong. In abundant light conditions, mirage severely limits the
use of more magnification than 20x anyway. In low light, about 20x is all that
is useful unless you have an 80mm or larger objective lens. This 20x50mm Spotter
also features fully multi-coated optics throughout so you get all the brightness
and clarity you've come to expect from Burris. Once you look through this tiny
spotting scope, you'll also see more than you'd expect from such a small unit.

Bushnell Elite / Rain Parka deal

Not only do you get a very nice free rain parka but you also get what we
consider to be one of the best values in scopes today, the Elite 3200 or 4200.
Combine that with their revolutionary RainGuard coating and the Fire Fly reticle
and you have a deal too good to pass up.

Rain, snow, and even your own breath have probably fogged the external lens on
your scope at one time or another. Never again! Engineered for the most rugged
field conditions, the Elite® is the only scope in the world that is water and
fogproof, both inside and out. The exclusive, patent- pending, RAINGUARD®lens
coating prevents external fogging and moisture from ruining your shot. Working
in combination with fully multi-coated optics, RAINGUARD improves image
resolution and boosts light transmission to 95% at 550nm. That's the world's
brightest!

When you see a trophy your eyes light up. Now you'll have the scope to match.
Developed by Bushnell® engineers especially for the lowest light hunting
situations, the new FireFly™ reticle illuminates the cross hairs after only a
quick 1-2 minute charge with a flashlight. Unlike battery-powered reticles -
which often fail at the absolute worst times - the FireFly reticle will glow
green and you will see your crosshairs against the animal.

Buy your Elite 3200 or 4200 today.
