is the safety detent and spring installed?  if so, loosen the grip screw half way and take the tension of the detent.

Yes, the hammer has to be cocked back becaues when it locks on the front of the trigger the rear of the trigger drops some allowing the install of the safety.

I've got a lower to put together next week and was wondering if there is a site with a detailed assembly guide?  I've done AK's and Makarovs of sites but can't find a link to an AR tutoral.

I can always look at one of my other AR's but it would be easier with a link to a site.  I currently have some parts in (like the front push pin) but I have some parts such as FCG coming on Monday or Tuesday.

I do have an armourers manual but it isn't the best.

Check this out http://ar15.com/content/docs/assembly/lower/
It really helped me out in assy.  even takes the guess work out of what each part is in a lower parts kit.

Thanks, I had the link under the old site but it was dead and I couldn't find it with search, that is what I needed.

Some are just tight, chuck it up in a drill and file or grind down the side that comes through the opposite of the lever, do a little at a time and itll slide right in. I have donw 3, and all 3 were tight.
