was reading on the Maryland AR site that you can simply remove the selector switch and put the lever to the right hand side of the lower for lefty friendly function. The reason I ask is I have never seen anything but ambi-selectors in pics or discussed here.is there some drawback or is it not possible.I was thinking there would be a problem with the detent. Is there one on both sides of the selector? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hmm I must have missed updating that.  Olympic Arms made such a selector a while back - I don't know if they still do.  Normal selectors will not reverse.

Sorry for the confusion.

I don't think that is correct.  The safety detent is on the passanger side of the lower receiver, and the corresponding cutout/dimples are on the opposite end of the safety as the lever.

You would have to drill the safety detent hole on the left side and also drill the left side of the pistol grip.

I found a friend that had an Oly and traded him out.  My RRA now has the selector on the right side.  I love it, no more eating up of my left trigger finger.

It is true, Oly and a couple others make a safety that can be dropped in on either side.  I'm not sure aside from OA who still makes them, but to the best of my knowledge, OA is still making all of theirs that way.  It isn't a special order, its the regular part.
