| Anybody have a picture of an 11" Samson mfg Evolution rail on a mid length gas system ? |

Not the most professional pics but this should help out.
Samson Evolution 11" Rail mounted to a Riflegear Midlength upper. Rail is made for Rainier Arms by Samson. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q273/windago/P1030123.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q273/windago/P1030125.jpg |

So I guess the Samson 11" rail will hide a mid length gas block...good to know. This is what I have been trying to figure out. I don't really want to chop the FSB because it will require the longer rail to cover it. Thanks to those that have posted pics. A few more wouldn't hurt. |

From the other day
I thought I was in some alternate reality |

Yeah, I made that thread while trying to figure out if I wanted to chop the sight base or not. I am leaning towards just getting a low pro block no though. It would be less work in the long run I think. So the new question is does an 11 in rail completely cover a smaller gas block? Some of the pictures above indicate that they do, but more pictures the better. |

For those of you running the Rainier Arms Evolution rail, does it require removal of the low-pro gas block to be installed? From the videos I've seen, it's just the special bushings that go over the barrel nut then you slide the tube in, correct?
Also, are there additional rail sections you can buy in addition to the included ones? Does the rail actually have inserts to place additional rails all around like a standard quad rail? |

It will not require removal of the gas block as long as it is one that will fit under it. The bushings or heat sink, is a two piece design that goes around the barrel nut and the rail attaches there. Yes you can buy extra rail pieces and yes, you can pretty much place them anywhere on the rail. |

I ask, cause I'm looking at building something and using a Samson Rail... |

BossMaverick: Yes the rail section will fit below the YHM low profile gas block with a little room to spare.
smullen: I guess the rail is specifically manufactured for Rainier by Samson which is why the pattern is different. I'm guessing that most people are going with Rainer since their rail comes with a 2" and 4" rail as well as a qd swivel socket; Samson direct only comes with 2 x2" & 1 4" rail section. On top of that its a little cheaper from Rainier than from Samson direct. I like the triangle pattern on the Rainer rail better than the S's on the Samson rail. |

I thought most people were going with these smother rounder rails vs the Quad rails, since most don't even mount stuff on them other than BUIS... Maybe a light with the addition of 1 rail section.. They Rainier pattern kinda reminds me of the YHM Diamond stuff... Not an exact, just reminds me of it... |
