Any opinions or experience with the VTAC from S&W?  I've got an ACOG that needs a home and thought this might be a good fit.  I can get it for approx. $1,600 with a $100 rebate from Smith.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

How does it compare to the premier ARs like Noveske or LMT?

M&P VTAC @ Bud's $1534 shipped

No experience with it but built one very similar on an RRA lower with a Bushy pencil barrel for much cheaper!

Curious but aren't basic S&W M&P ARs sub $1000.00 now(approx $800 range) not including the rebate?   The VTAC handguard can be had for less than $200 as well.  ~$1000.00 vs $1600.00!!  No brainer!!!!    Some assembly required.

Also add $$ for the JP match trigger,  Surefire G2 light,  VTAC Light Mount, and a VTAC two point padded sling.  All this plus you don't void any warranty for putting on the handguard. IMO the CNND deal is a good deal.  If this is the configuration your looking for I doubt you can build it for cheaper with out using used parts.

+1
$1600 has to be thrown out, $1300 should be the new number to compare prices at

handguard $185
sling $40
light mount $25
G2 $42
trigger $140
stock $50

CDNN sells the M&P15OR for $599, the lowest priced model, so you could save about $200 if you went that route but then on top of what PC-Tech said about the warranty, you would have to hunt everything down, and as you said install it. the OR is still only 1:9 twist.  I'd buy the VTAC if it had everything I wanted for just for the convenience and call it a day

Well that does sound like a better deal.  Didn't know this model came with the extras already.  And the 1:7 twist is a bonus.

Would this be ideal for an ACOG, or should I look for something with an 18" barrel?

Let's not forget the $50 Modstock and 3 pricey rail sections included as well.

Yes OP, this would be great to throw an ACOG on!

I know a guy that uses one for a police patrol rifle with a Trijicon scope on it, I think its a TR24. Its a great patrol car gun.
