I'm looking to mount a Trijicon 1.5x4 Accupoint on my flattop AR & I'm trying to get a idea how much eye releaf I'm going to need.
I like American Defense (have several of there mounts) so I'm looking at the RECON or the RECON X. Do I need the eye releaf of the RECON X? What mount would you buy if you were going to mount this scope on your gun? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/American-Defense-MFG-Optic-Mounts-s/94.htm |

your mount doesnt dictate your eye relief, your scope does. The scope has 3.2" of eye relief. next question would be what stock setup do you have? how do you normally shoot it? either way, I would think the regular recon would get you plenty forward even with nose to charging handle, i cant see needing the extended mount with that scope.

This. I had one of the Accupoints in the Recon mount on a carbine. The Accupoint has a very forgiving eye relief and I never had any trouble using the Recon.

If you shoot NTCH then I would recommend the X. While I think you could get by with the standard Recon, the X will be more versatile. With the X you can center the scope in the mounts instead of pushing it all the way forward. If you some day move to a scope that needs 4" of eye relief then you will still be good with the X. |
