I recently read on the forum that having you scope mount bridge you upper receiver and handguard was a big no no having adverse effects on accuracy. Today I moved my scope so it is entirely on the LR. Once re-zeroed The rifle shot great. I think I shot the best groups today with this gun ever. The trouble I am experiencing now is eye relief. I have the scope as far as it will go in my Mount Warne RAMP. Scope is a Viper PST 6.5-24.. obviously a high mag scope. I dont think that the Warne mount has as much cantilever as I need. I have a ADM Recon-X on my other rifle, holding a 1-6 scope. Swapping them would be the obvious solution but I do like the way the 1-6 is set up, and I just zeroed the two rifles today. Not in a rush to do it again. Dose anyone have a suggestion on how I could make the Warne work with the hi mag viper? another reason I want to stick with the Warne Mount on my long range rifle is its got the 45 degree offset mount with a mini red dot on it.

While it's not a great idea to bridge the handguard, unless you've experienced accuracy issues personally it may be ok. Some handguards are pretty rigid and a one piece scope mount is better than two tall rings.
Anyway so I'm assuming the scope is as far forward in the rings as they allow? Can you extend the stock at all? As a last resort you can always sell the warne mount on the EE and pickup a different scope mount with more cantilever, and get a standalone warne offset 45' rail.for your dot. |

I do think that the accuracy of my rifle has improved since I moved the mount so its only on the upper. I have moved the scope as far forward as I can in the rings and moved my stock to its rearmost setting. If i do go with a different mount for the scope with the needed cantilever, I am not sure if i can fit a 45 degree offset mount on the upper rail. Looking at my upper with the AD Recon-X mount on it there are 3-4 rail sections free in the rear with the mount placed as forward as possible, Does anyone know how many sections the offset mount options on the market occupy? Looking at some online it looks like it wold be close. Other option would be to use an alternative to the AD recon -x such as the Larue SPR extended, does this mount occupy more/less/or the same rail sections as the AD recon? |

You should have enough space with a normal cantilever mount like a LaRue or Aero Precision to mount the Warne 45' standalone mount, assuming you're not running a rear iron sight. I emailed Warne asking how much space their 45 degree mount occupies. They told me that it takes up five segments. This seems like a lot, by looking at the photo I would have guessed less like 3 or 4. however the shape of it may account for that space. |

I really like that option. I assume LaRue will sell that offset mount half ring separately? I'd be worried that it might not be precise enough unless it was machined together as a part of the entire SPR mount. I have a higher power scope in an SPR mount and am considering running the new Leupold DeltaPoint 2 in the manner I see your Vortex reflex. I really like how it fits right in the valley between the two turrets. |
