| What is the most common rise, mounting reg size scope to flat top AR?1 1/8 rise or 1 3/8 like the rings ARMS offer? |

I think you are asking how high should the rings be? The "standard" height is 1.4" for an A2 stock if you want a traditional cheekweld. The ARMS #22H rings are 1.450". #22M rings directly on a flattop are too low, but work well for many scopes with a #36EX or #38EX sleeve, as this combo gets you up to 1.510" and gives you enough ewadditional length to get the front ring on the scope tube in front of the turret. Realize that standard height is only a guideline. For many applications, particularly ones where shooting styles vary, higher mounts are often easier to adapt to. Mount a scope that has a "perfect" cheekweld and try to use it with a gas mask, or a Sim helmet, and you will quickly see that more height is better. If your shooting is limited to range roving, varminting, and other pursuits where you have the luxury of time to set up, a solid cheek weld will help you shoot more consistently. In social encouters it may hinder you. Paul mstn.biz |
