Are butler creek the best covers to use? I have used them before, and they broke. Any other better options out there?

Butler Creek are pretty much the standars.  If you have a Leupold they make Aluminum caps for their scopes.

What broke on you ButlerCreek caps?

If they quit flipping up I have a thread that shows you how to repair them.

I've neer had one break but they are cheap enough to simply get another if needed.

The ring around the scope bell split. I have been turned off by them ever since. I might have to give them  a try agian If no one else makes them.
