I'm buying a new AR for 3 gun and plinking and I'm having a hard time choosing a scope. I will mostly be plinking but I would like to shoot a few local fun shoots and 3 gun matches. I would like to stay under $500
Here are the ones I have been looking at.
Burris MTAC with  ballistic AR

Burris MTAC 1.5-6x42mm I think my ageing eyes would like the 6 power better for longer shots and the 42mm Objective Lens would let in more light.

SWFA SS 1-4x24 Tactical 30mm Riflescope. I've heard good things about this scope but I'm not sure about the  Reticle

Vortex 1-6x24 Strike Eagle 30mm Rifle Scope. I like the 6 power but i'm not a fan of the  Reticle

Primary Arms 1-6X Scope with Patented ACSS 5.56  I like the Reticle way better on this scope that the one on the Vortex

Last but not least I could wait on this one
Primary Arms 1-8X Scope with Patented ACSS 5.56

Let me know what you think

I just installed the MTAC 1.5 -6 w/Ballistic AR reticle on my wife's rifle a couple weeks ago.

I have not shot with it yet.

The glass is very clear and bright.  Reticle is fast and easy for your eye to grab hold of.  Illumination is not daylight bright.

It is big and fairly heavy for It's power range.  It looks and feels like many 3-9s.

Built quality seems nice.

These are just initial impressions so please take with a grain of salt.

I like it.  She likes it.  That's all I got.  Haven't used or owned the others.

ETA:. I'm adding this pic so you can see the size I'm talking about.

Thanks for the pic. It look much bigger once it's mounted on the gun...lol

Those are just some 30mm Nikon P-Series mounts.  They aren't fancy but work fine.

When I bought it I didn't expect it to be as large as it is.  That's why I wanted to share...lol.  I still like it though.

That would make on heck of a nice hog hunting or thick cover deer scope.

Don't bother with the 1-4x scopes not enough power

Get at least a 1-6x

I run a 2.5-10x on my 3 gun rifle since we shoot out to 400yds and I have no problem shooting the close targets on 2.5 power
