I just bought a 24" varmint upper for my rifle and I now need to get a scope for it. I would like for the scope to have a built in bullet drop compensator and a range finding reticle. I also want it to go up to at least 12x magnification or higher. The only scope I can find that with these options is an ATN. Are there any other scopes out there with these options for under $400? I plan on shooting at distances of up to 500 yards. Do I really need a BDC and Range finder? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What's your budget...no sense in suggesting a $1500 scope if you can't afford it...and the "the scope should cost more than 3x your house payment" crowd will be along shortly, to do just that.

Having said that, a quality scope with that amount of x and the BDC probably won't come cheap though.  You may want to talk to someone who knows how to use a mil dot scope...that may be a viable option, and opens your selection up a bit.

Regarding ATN, there isn't a whole lot of good stuff about them around, iirc, but I have no personal experience.

Thanks for the responce Fenian. I may have to look at other options, but I would not know where to start when it comes to alowing for bullet drop and estimating distances. This will be my first time shooting at distances over 100 yards.
