I am getting a new S&W M&P15 OR and i was just wanting to know if i should put a scope or a red dot on it, i will be mostly shooting at the range at 100 yards and maybe doing some other plinking at shorter and even longer distances, i already own a primary arms m4 and a Bushnell elite 4200 4-12x40 scope which one would be the best to put on my new rifle or should i just take both with me to range and switch them out depending on how far i am shooting?

If you already have 2 different optics get a reliable QD mount for both and switch them easily when you want.

LaRue Tactical has a variety of mounts that would work for you.

I think if one will stay within 150 yards, he/she should use a RDS.  It sounds like a RDS would be best for you, but since you have both a RDS and a scope, I agree that you should get Larue QD mount for both so you can use them both.
