I tried to read through the old posts, but found nothing similar, so I'll ask.

I bought THIS scope about 5-6 years ago at a pawn shop for $400.00 and it's been on my mini-14 ever since.
Would I be wrong in putting this on my AR? Is this going to be overkill or is this normal?
Just curios.

Thanks,

Gene

Don't take this as a real bad he
I do believe in "use it if you got it", but within reason.

The first question people will ask you here is, what are you going to use your rifle for?

That being said, IMO a person's rifle is his to do as he deems fit (I am speaking as a non LEO or Military guy). If your rifle is just for plinking or hunting, then go ahead and mount it! Enjoy it the way you would want to. Who cares if others feel that it is too big.

People do use the AR as a Designated Marksman's Rifle in the "real" world. So some do use hunting scopes for that. I think I have seen some IDF rifles with hunting scopes. Although they also use ACOGS now.

LOL, well when I bought (found a deal I could'nt pass up) the scope, all I had was the mini-14 and an old Remington bolt action 22... so you can guess where the scope went.  Worked great.

Just recently I purchased the AR and I was looking at the scope the other day and thought "hey, might be cool to put that on the ar".

About all I would be doing with it is target shooting (and killing the odd zombie that wonders into my house in the middle of the night).....

Thanks for the input.

Another question about this scope.

I've decided to go ahead and mount this scope on my ar until I can purchase something else. I'm not sure what type of scope mount I need. I just installed a CMT flat top upper and It's obvious I need a riser of some sort. What are some om my options?

Thanks for your input.
