I want to buy a set of rings for my old armalite with a A2 stock.
I had this armalite for over 20 years and just started to build it in to a varmint rifle.
My question is what height of rings should I use with my A2 stock to get the proper cheek weld using a 1inch scope.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Still need help with my question on ring height.
I like the TPS-TSR rings and the price is in my ball park too.
But just don't know about the ring height.
Someone other than myself must of had the same problem.
Sure could use some help.
Thanks to all

You are going to need a mount or rings designed for and AR.  Normal scope rings are not high enough.  The center line of your optic needs to be 1.5" above the rail.

What is your budget?

About $50.00 to $75.00 would be my budget.

The Burris PEPR mount is around $70 and its pretty good for the money.  Hope this helps.

I have used Warne extra-high and ultra-high QD rings on an AR with good success.  Currently using the extra-high version.

OP,

Your post is a bit confusing, in that it sounds like you want to mount the scope on the carry handle of the std. (A2).  In other words in your post is it appears you are describing an AR that has a carry handle, and not a flat top rail.

If you do in fact have an A3 / A4 (instead of an A-2 (with a carry handle) which has the flat top rail the above the post I've quoted above is right on, and you need a .5 inch riser to get the scope the right height !!!!!!!!

For rings I really like the Burris Signature Zee rings as they have offset plastic inserts which makes zeroing the scope much easier to align, and these rings won't mark up the scope finish.  Research these, as they do a much better job of describing the benefits than I can do.

It you do have an A2 with the carry handle, I'm sorry, as I can't help you there.  All mine are flat tops.

Also, The scope I'm using on this particular AR has a 30 mm tube (but the rings are available for 1.0" tubes).

Hope this helps you.  If you need additional help, just PM me.
