Hello, I just purchased a DPMS LR308 and a Springfield 4x14x56 scope. Does anybody know what height of rings I need. I'm going to use either Warne or Leupold rings. I think the "high" should work in either. What do you guys think? Thanks, Scott |

Go with the Warne Maxima Steel AR-15 Ultra-High magnum rings. They are QD but they return to zero every time and they will clear that large objective bell. I have several sets of these on AR-15s and one on my .470 Rhino and they put the scope at the proper height for your eye as well as giving you clearance for the large bells. Big-Bore told me the the same thing for my DPMS TAC20 and my Springfield 4-14.5 X 56mm second generation scope. You will like the rings, Warne makes nice product.....they are just what the DR. ordered. The right height! Thanks Big-Bore!! Big-Bore AKA. Steve: I just found your website and feel like a butt for not having ordered the Warne Mounts from you. You took the time to answer my question about the mount, and gave me very good advise. In the future I want to use your company ADCO for helping me. Thanks for your help!! FYI http://www.adcofirearms.com/acc/ProductLine_.cfm?product_category=Optics/Mounts&subcategory=Scope%20mounts |
| irons are 1.3", and if i remember most larues are 1.4 or 1.5". warne gives good measurements so its easy. what screws up things is the elevated upper from dpms, but if you have the a3 upper its normal. i use warne low (.25") rings and a yhm .5" riser/extension, to get close to irons ntch cheekweld with a3 uppers and 30mm scopes. |

If at all possible make some little wooden blocks. Make the bottom of them that will set on top your receiver flat and make the tops round out or concave if you will to fit your scope tube. You might make them real tall at first as you can adjust by cutting some wood off the flat bottom. With good duct tape you can tape your scope with the wood blocks on your rifle and actually see what you really need for ring height. When you are satisfied measure those wood block and you'll have a very close idea of what is best for you. The one poster that made the statement the lower you get the scope to any rifle the better. Well that doesn't exactly go along with the AR15 because of the straight and high stock comb doesn't let you get your face/eye as low as a convention rifle stock such as found on a bolt action rifle. Think about getting a tactical charging handle or at least the latch lever because it's hard to get a grip on the charging handle with a scope in place. |
