My wife bought me one of the nikon p223 3x32 scopes last Christmas and I still haven't mounted it up yet. She also ordered the nikon rings and they would work but I want something I can remove without having to take my rear sight off. I don't think I am able to run any one piece mounts because this scope is extremely short. So I'm looking for some standard style rings, like the burris extreme. Do I need 1" high or 1.25" high?

I'm putting this on my beater m&p sport and don't want to spend a fortune on rings.

You need HIGHER than either for an AR15, 1.4" to 1.5" from the top of the rail to centerline of the scope.  That is the height that matches your iron sights and the much higher (than bolt guns) stock of AR15s to match the standard sights.

Where are you getting a set of LT123's for $100?

Found what I was looking for

Millet rings

$30, I don't need QD I just want to be able to remove it without having to slide it off like the nikon mounts.

Are you sure you can slide that scope back and forth in those Millet rings to set your eye relief and still get the front ring on the receiver rail? It may have to be cantilevered. The fixed 3x Nikon P has very little tube room for fore and aft adjustment.

Thanks.  Would love to see a photo of your setup.  Not very familiar with those rings.

I haven't gotten them yet but mocking the scope up confirms eye relief shouldn't be an issue even with the stock out 3 clicks.

I have a set of the P series rings, which work fine but you cannot remove them without sliding them off the back of the receiver. I want to be able to remove this scope in the highly unlikely event I would ever really need BUIS.
