After reading the reveiws of the the fisrt two scopes at the link below I've become interested in Col. Jeff Coopers scout rifle concept as I could apply it to an AR-15. Anyone have any experience with long eye relief scopes on an AR or any opinion? It would be fairly expensive considering the rails required. My options seem to be a free float system with both scope bases on the rail such as a Larue Stealth upper or PRI's carbon tube with one of their rails that join and bridge the reciever rail to the tube. Of course Vltors one one peice receiver and forearm would also work. These are all pricey systems that would require optics and back-up sights so I'm looking for opinions before making the leap. I have no experience with any optics other than irons.

if you need more magnification, look at Burris`s pistol scopes, they have good eye relief
to use as scout scopes. I use the 2X7 on my M1a. Works for me. They also make a 3X12, I think. There`s probably still a thread on this over in the M1a/M14 section. YMMV scruff |
