Has anyone seen the article in SGN about the lower receiver you put together with screws. It was not this issue but the one before it. Would you trust this thing.

I saw it.  It reminded me of a lower somone on this site built many years ago (orginal board IIRC) using a small hobby/tabletop mill.

Bummer about the company being raided by the BATF.

Yes I'd trust the lower for plinking/range fun possibly hunting.  But I would not use it for a duty rifle.

I would trust it too, everything is keyed in place the only thing the screws do is hold it in place. You can buy it direct from KT just not from JPFO.

Might do it myselt if I get board this winter.

Not according to the article - KT was raided by the BATF at the time of publication so no kits are being sold untill the mess is straightened out.

They're still in business, and they're still selling 80% kits:

I see the site is up - but are they shipping?

Nevermind - I did some research on the JPFO website and it looks like they are back in production while awaiting the outcome.  Get 'em while you can.

Are they really charging $200 for an 80% receiver?  Or am I just reading the site wrong?  Why in God's name would anyone pay that much for an unfinished receiver when a finished one is half the cost?   Just to avoid having it registered with the feds?  If I was worried about that I'd just buy a used one FTF at a gun show.

It give guys who have built every variation something to do, plus it is our right and if we dont use it we could loose it. Besides at $200.00 thats only a couple of boxes of ammo at todays prices.

I'm also curious about the price.

Perhaps it's because of the ammount of work already put into it, and the included DVD, or perhaps it's for another reason....people willing to pay for the convenience/knowledge that there is no record of the purchase.

There are always those people who have criminal convictions that prohibit legal firearms ownership....   An 80% lower, some machine shop time and everything else can be mail ordered.....no ATF checks at all....
