Is there a reason more high-end guys like Larue or GG&G, etc don't offer red dot mounts for the T1 that have see-through holes. I would think it would make the mount lighter and maybe allow you to pass on the rear BUIS. Could you even pass on the front sight if you had some sort of crosshare or post built into it. Is it a height issue or is there more that I'm missing...
Because that would be stupid to increase mount height so high you have to look through a mount instead of your optic. Using an optic mount with a hole would make sight adjustment for windage impossible and it would decrease your sight radius to nothing. If you want to use sights look through your T1 to see them. If you want to use a rear sight use one. Dont see whats so hard about that. If you ever tried a T1 and a Larue mount all this would be very self evident. Why do you need to see through the mount when you can see through the optic?
I really wasn't suggesting an increase in overall height. If fact, If you have an open tube with some sort of sight marker built into it you could skip BUIS altogether and still have a peep that would get you close to the target and avoid the cost, weight, and clutter...
