For self defense ammo what type of accuracy do you expect from the ammo? If shooting 50 yards and in.........

50 yards isn't self defense unless you are being shot at.

Most good ammo should be 1-2" at 100 yards but can you or your rifle shoot that with whatever sighting system you use?

Let's start with a platform: do you mean rifle, shotgun, handgun, potato gun...?

Assuming you're talking about handguns, at 50 yards you should be heading for an exit route...

I think you are focused on the wrong thing.  For "defense",  accuracy of the round is a million time better the accuracy of the shooter..

I would agree with that. It makes no difference if you're shooting 1" groups at 50 yards or 3" groups - your ability to aim the weapon will add much more error to the equation than the inaccuracy of the ammo. That being said, I would still expect the ammo to group reasonably well - say no worse than 3" with irons, better if it's scoped.

All of my primary rifle ammo is sub-MOA capable in the right weapon. Actual results depend on the weapon, the situation, and me.

thanks everyone. Was just wanting a sense of what to expect for accuracy. I know that doesn't matter if I can't hit what I am aiming at.

I know this is not the reloading forum but with reloads I was doing development at 200 yards to get the most reliable load but then I got to thinking this is a 25 yard or less round so I could just shoot closer in and try to get the velocity I am wanting and not worry about shooting bug holes at further ranges.

Honestly minute of man is fine with me. I'm not so concerned with tight groups or sub MOA.  COM out to 100 is fine with me. Almost all ammo will do that. As long as I hit what I'm aiming at.
