I called Colt and gave them my serial number on my AR. I think they made a mistake telling me my gun was made in 1974. I don't see anywhere where a ST model was made in 1974. I'm sure this has been asked many times here but can someone give me info on my AR.

It says Colt, Sporter, Cal 223, Target Model, has flash or muzzle break, bayonet lug has been removed.  # ST 0382XX. This AR has never been shoot. Thanks for any info.

Also can the bayonet lug be replaced? Thanks again in advance.

The sporter guns without the bayonet lug came out around 1990-1992 I believe.  They took the AR15 roll mark off slightly before the 1994 ban and started making Sporters by removing the bayonet lug.

No, you gun was not made in 1974 as far as I know.  If it was made in 1974 it would have been an SP1 or SP1 carbine.

Thanks, I'm going to call Colt back this week and try again. Maybe the guy thought I said SP. This gun was sold to a friend of mine in the early 90's. I think 92-93. It does still have the roll marks on it. He passed away and his widow sold it to me. He never shot it and I haven't either. She asked $900.00 for it and I bought it. A deal? I don't know. But he always told her to make sure I got first shot at it. At least I have something to remember him by. He was a great friend.

Looks like it may not be pre-ban, by a few digits.  Heres the link.  Good deal, I say yes.  Does it have a Colt installed sear block that is pinned in from the right or both right and left sides showing a pin?  Or none?
