What is the best way to lock down an A2 fsb/gas block that is not taper pinned , but rather, uses set screws?
All my others use taper pins, so this is new territory for me. Do I need to dimple the bbl? Loctite? Both? I just dont want it getting knocked left/right off the gas port. (I'm not overly ginger with my ARs). And I tend to be clumsy at times. Eta: currently has set screws, 2 left side, 2 right side. Where the taper pins would normally be. Pic below: Attached File |
| do they go all the way through? have you taken one out to see. from the looks of the picture it appears the barrel is notched just like when the FSP it pinned except in this case screws were used instead of taper pins. if this is the case, you have nothing to worry about that i can see. |

Having flats milled into the barrel would be the best way to do it. I would at least do dimples bc without them even with loctite there stands the potential to rotate the fsb if you hit it hard enough. I grabbed an image off google not mine.... http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee270/speedstar13/IMG_1557.jpg Any suggestions on marking the barrel in order to machine the flats? |

Hell Tig, send me the barrel and the FSB, I will drill and taper ream install the pins and send it back to you, I have the complete set up to do those in about 20 minutes. |
