so I went home and got my rifle back from my brother in law I got a can of m855 420 rounds 350 rounds of rem 55gr 150 tula 62gr 120 rounds of pmc friday evening I went out and shot all of the m855, 200 of rem 50 of tula and all of PMC no problems my step brother took good care of it. but after cleaning it throughly last night i decided to shoot the rest of it this afternoon along with 300 rounds of 22lr with my conversion kit. I shot all the 22lr no problem and all 150 rounds of rem no problem. I got through only 60 rounds of ammo and the last rounds of those two magazines would not lock the back so I tried out all my mags with one round and none of them would lock bad. I tried three Pmags two DPMS mags no luck.

Right now im thinking its just the ammo but I shot 50 rounds of it the day before no problem. could it be when I deep cleaned last night I messed something up? If you guys think its the buffer im running a ST T1 with power spring. and it ran through all of those rounds before. maybe to much Lube? I drenched it before i went out today and it still had some from last nights cleaning.

So what do you guys think? ammo? magazines? BCG? Lube? Buffer?

If you want a guess I would say magazines. How are your followers?

maybe you clogged the gas port with lead from the 221r I believe I remember seeing that you should clean the gas tube after using the cmmg 22 conversion kit but I would find confirmation on that.

Tula its under powered from what I hear. That was most likely your problem. Especially if it was the only time you were having problems.

ETA: it could also be that it was overly dirty from all the .22 ammo which would dirty up your gun pretty well. Combine that with alot of lube and you've got a mess.

A magazine or so of real ammo through the gas tube is what "cleans" it after firing .22

Were you shooting copper-plated bullets or lead bullets in the conversion? I avoid firing non-copper plated to avoid lead building up.
