I have an AR but honestly i suck with it.

i bought 1400 round of 22 to shoot through my dads 10/22 for practice because Field and stream opened up a new store today and was loaded with 22 to attract customers.

I know the triggers are different but for the most part i should be able to apply the same fundamentals to my AR when i get better and can shoot more expensive ammo, right?

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to be a sure shot?
Eventually i want to shoot 1 MOA with good ammo out of my AR

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Your 10/22 isn't accurate but you can practice pressing the trigger anf fousing on the front sight.

10/22 is accurate enough.

I tend to lean towards the Magpul/Costa style of shooting. Do you have any good instructors in your area? Try working with them.

I built a competition 10/22 and they can be VERY accurate. Depending on which model you get they can be amazingly accurate out of the box, too.

Anyway, the fundamentals of rifle shooting will translate from your .22 to your AR.

The 5 fundamentals are:

1) Aiming (sight alignment and sight picture)
2) Trigger control
3) Breath control
4) Position
5) Follow through

Some people break it down slightly differently, but those are the basics. And you can work on those with a 10/22 or an AR.

What is OP's definition of "suck"? Are you shooting from a bench with the gun supported? You'll never get near 1moa without supporting the rifle. Use sandbags or a bipod. At least you must definitely support the rifle when sighting it in. Getting 1moa is a lofty goal for a beginner since many AR's can only achieve 2moa from the factory, but I say go for it, since we all seek as near to perfection as possible, and that's how we learn skills. You will definitely be wanting to get a magnified scope if your goal is 1moa.

Yeah, we need more info in order to really help you. The 10/22 is very accurate. I have one that is 25plus years old and I will shoot the nuts off a squirrel at 50 yards. But it isn't a replacement for the AR. If you can't afford a Carbine class check out the videos on youtube, some of them are very, very good and some are very very bad. Look at the comments on youtube and find one that doesn't have a bunch of replies telling author he is an idiot.  Also order this book by Kyle Lamb ,  GREEN EYES AND BLACK RIFLES , Kyle knows what he is doing and breaks down the fundamentals of shooting the AR15 correctly. I learned quite a bit when I first started with this disease, lol!!!!!!!  I still pull it out from time to time to freshen things up. Perform dry fire exercises in your home. I suggest doing this instead of training with the 10/22. So you might as well send me those 1400 rounds since you don't need them now.

You might want to look into this

This is a great way to get the fundamentals of shooting. Check to see if they have an event near you.

I'll add another recommendation for Project Appleseed. It's only $60, and you'll get some excellent training in rifle shooting fundamentals in one weekend.

Or you could just give up shooting rifles altogether and send me your .22lr ammo.

How are you shooting it?

From a bench or off hand?

What ammo?

Use a bench rest. Start with 25 yards.  When you can consistently cover 5 shots with a nickle, move out to 50 yards.  Consistency is the answer.  Same sight picture, same trigger pull every time.  Slow down between shots and breathe. Do not breathe when you pull the trigger. Take about 3/4 breath and hold it.

Consider an optic. An inexpensive Red Dot, like the Bushnell TRS-25 will add to the fun factor on the 10/22 and the AR. For 1 MOA, you are going to need a scope.

Oh yeah, don't use steel cased ammo. Stick with brass cased ammo until you find your capabilities.

Get some training from a good instructor in your area if funds permit.

If you have a bone stock 10/22 I would recommend upgrading the trigger. It a wonder what a good trigger will do to your groups.

On the 10/22 replacing just the hammer is a good way to improve trigger pull Power Custom or Volquartsen will do the job.

Take a look here and decide how much you want to spend

I replied to your PM, but let me say this, I wouldn't jump to an optic of any kind until you have the basic principles down pat with your iron sights. The rest of what I wrote in my reply PM is still valid.

Billy has you covered so far.

Some photos of your targets would actually be a help.  Video of a typical string would be even better.  Sounds kinda weird, but I mean a video of your position and application of the fundamentals, then maybe a photo or video of the results.
