What kind of damage will occur by shooting tracers through my M4? How many rounds would it take to actually cause damage? I'm thinking about getting some, but have never used them other than in the Military. I see that ammoman has a deal of 1000 rounds plus 100 tracers for $230. In the service we would put the last three rounds as tracers to know we needed to change mags.

Shooting tracers won't hurt your weapon, unless that's all you shoot.
And even then, you'd be OK as long as you clean it afterward.

When I pulled the trigger on the tracer, I got an explosion in the chamber, some loss of rifling and a red light shooting from the end of my weapon.

Dispose of it properly.

I'd think when theres no more BANG. You'd know to change mags. Why give up your position? Shooting 3 tracers as ur last rounds, then need to change mags. I'd think that'd just give em ur position and you'll wind up dead.
