I finally got a lower for my Stag kit I got back in October. I either lost the bolt catch roll pin as soon as I opened the lowers parts kit, or it didn't even come with one; I'm leaning toward the latter.

My question now is, is it safe to shoot without the bolt catch? This is probably a really dumb question, because as far as I can tell the bolt catch doesn't matter for anything but catching the bolt, which isn't really necessary. But it's my first build, so better safe than sorry.

I'll be ordering a new pin soon, but I'm itching to shoot it now.

Cant see it being a problem. bolt would hold open on empty mag. thats about it.

Course now you know you need to keep a couple complete pin & spring kits avalable now.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem. Other than the bolt not staying back on the last shot obviously. Not very tacticool though.

Why not just go to the hardware store

The Bolt catch roll pin is  7/16 long and is 3/32 diameter

I agree, lost mine once and just went to the local Hardware store and bought 10 of them that would work but had to be trimmed down a little with the dremel.
I even went back and bought 10 of others that are needed on the lower just in case one of my buds happen to lose one.
