What are some good close range (25-75 yard) optics to use on my Bushmaster M4 A2 with 14.5" 1/9 barrel and a carry handle?

I really don't mind spending a little bit on a nice set up ($300-$800) and I would like to see what some are using for this type of shooting.

Thank you!!

either an aimpoint mounted on the carry handle, or one of those arms
allowing it to be mounted in front of the carry handle.

Considering your price range, I really like the ACOG TA44S.  It offers a clearer view and a just a touch of magnification for those shots beyond 50 yards.  I really like mine.  It's on the rifle on the bottom.  If you want to look into something like that, I'd suggest the TA44SG-10.  It's 4" long and I believer under half a pound with the mount.

Both look really nice, and I like the TA44SG-10 ACOG.... That looks like the route to go... Thank you guys, and keep the opinions coming.

ACOG on the carry handle works good too, and will allow you to reach out beyond "short range"

Not to get off base or anything, but for the budget that you specified, you could get yourself a flat top upper and expand your options.  If you are looking at close range optics because of the carry handle, you could extend the reach of the carbine by going with a magnified optic.  On the other hand, if you WANTED a carry handle upper, then the red dots (or some alternative) is going to be your best bet.

If you want to only have to buy once, don't discount anything until you've explored all of your options.  As I said, I like the ACOG, but you may like the Aimpoint or Eotech better, for whatever reasons.  You can get all of the advise in the world on this forum, but nothing beats putting your hands on something to check it out yourself.  I've bought more than one piece of equipment due to recommendations of others only to be disappointed.

I only mentioned the ACOG to ensure that you knew that there was such a thing.

I have thought about going to a flat top upper, most of my shooting with this rifle is just playing around at real close range (shooting turtles in our pond). Im not against either way for sure. There is a gun show this weekend in OKC, maybe some folks will have a couple out there I can take a peek at. I might just end up with a redot on this rifle, because looking around here, I want to build a new rifle with a nice flat top upper and bull barrel. Looks like fun.

Thanks for everyones help
