Today I shot a box of Remington 12 Gauge, 3 inch Express Magnum. The load was 1 5/8 oz of #4 shot, in a high brass plastic shell.

This ammunition was purchased in 1979. It has been stored in an ammo can with dessicant in various places over the years (Garage, basement, shed, etc.) There was a slight tarnish on the brass, but no corrosion.

It all shot 100%, no problems, and seemed to be full strength. Pretty good for 30 year old ammo.

Thought I would pass this along for those interested in long term storage of ammo.

I have a few boxes of #8s in the safe from 1988 and 1 box of #6's from 1985. I have no worries at all that it will all go bang.

Just have to store it correctly.

I shot a box of paper shelled 16 guage birdshot  that had been stored in a unheated garage since the early 70's (about 25 years at that time). They all went bang.

I shot about 125 Sears brand paper hull shotshells about 15 years ago.  No issues with them either.

I fired some 1936 dated .303 British MkVII ball ammo from my Savage Enfield No. 4 Mk 1 last year. I had no issues. Ammo will outlive you if it is stored reasonably well.
