Ok so here's the story.  A friend of mine built a .308 AR and decided to pin a low pro gas block to the barrel.

While drilling for the pin the block was slightly crooked which doesn't really matter except for the fact that said friend now needs an adjustable gas block.

They went with an SLR which has a dimple for pinning.

I read on another forum where someone had a Micropin block and then used the SLR and drilled and pinned it on the same barrel with no issues.

However, I'm paranoid about ruining a $120 gas block and a $250 barrel all in one shot if I try the same thing.

What would you guys do?  Should I pin this second gas block and hope for the best or just go with some aggressive dimpling?

I would send it to professionals who have the correct tools and experience. I had an SLR Sentry 7 pinned onto a Rainier Arms Match .308 barrel. They did an outstanding job and I have not had an issue in 500+ rounds.

Not a smith, rather, a Bubba.  Don't use the dimples.  Pin at a new location away from the existing pinholes in the bbl.

Did they pin it at Rainer?  If not, who did you send it to?

It was ADCO. I neglected to mention it in my post

That's not a bad suggestion, thanks!

This is good advice.  Just note that if you have one of the melonited SLR gas blocks it might be tough to drill.

I love to do things myself, but in this case it would be wise to send it to a professional and have it done right the first time.
