| I am looking at getting a side charge upper do to the fact that I shoot left handed. I have been looking at getting a LAR Grizzly OPS, Has anyone us them or is there a better company to go with? |

Why not get a Stag lefty upper?
I just built one for my father and it's fantastic. |

Exactly. Why pay more for a non standard design when you can get a fully functional, proven design that works well and you won't have to worry about the moving bolt when shooting cover or laying down. |
| I have never cared much for the AR charging handle. Granted it is ambi but it just feels awkward to me when charging the weapon from cover or any time I am in a tight position. When doing drills with my SOCOM-16 I feel much more natural with the side chrging handle. I cant wait till the price of the SCARs come down as there .308 looks to bad ass. |

I'm not a gun smith but with all the add-on products for AR's that are on the market I'm a bit surprised that an upper has not come out that has a non reciprocating charging handle.
I looked at LWRC's website. Is their charging handle on the R.E.P.R. non reciprocating? I'd say this is the biggest draw back for me on the SCAR. Otherwise, I would probably already have one. I think I'll wait for the ACR to come out and see how people like that. Seems like some sort of free-floating side charging device would be a big hit in AR after-market circles. OOops! Looks like Addax Tactical has an upper with exactly that. Interesting. |

My LAR
I still haven't had a chance to really test it, but it looks promising. |
| I had a DPMS upper with a non reciprocating left side charging handle about 8 years ago. I found that the small folding, HK style handle/latch was difficult to manipulate expecially with gloves or with a railed handguard. A friend that has a couple JP .308 rifles has the same complaint. I really like the charging handle on my XCR though. I'd probably buy an AR upper that used the same setup if someone would produce it. |
