So, turns out the Apache M4 rack doesn't leave space for the Aimpoint on top of the receiver. As a frustrated non-Ordnance officer, I've not yet been able to verify if a side mount would fit - but would it work? The Knight's Armament side rails will hold zero, and the M68 (Aimpoint M2, M4, etc) has infinite eye relief, so it could certainly be mounted forward. Other than the odd ergonomics, are there any practical downsides to mounting a red dot on a side rail, if that's the only place it will fit? Would an additional spacer be advisable, given the low stock position? (Which would then cause complications on the zero)
