Hi all I'm new to this forum. I just took my brand new Olympic A1 upper Plinker AR-15 to the range. It shoots great. No matter what load I shoot it shoots the same nice tight group....at 25 yards. The problem is that it shoots to the right. I have the rear sight adjustment as far to the left as possible, but it still shoots 4" to the right of the bullseye. Any suggestions? Should I send it back to Olympic Arms? I'm expecting a carry handle scope mount and red dot scope on Tuesday, which I had ordered last week. That should cure my sighting problem, but I sure would like the open sights to be on also. Someone on another forum told me to check the gas block alignment, whatever that is. Any advice?

Sorry Yea. I would send it back. Shounds like the front sight base might be out of allienment. But Oly has a poor rep. Quality wise. So it could be any of a host of prblems. Cant hurt to give them a call.

Yes send it back.  Sounds like way too much torque on the barrel nut to get the gas tube slot aligned.

'Sounds like way too much torque on the barrel nut to get the gas tube slot aligned'

A very common problem on ARs. As the nut was over-tightened, the front sight base rotated too far left, throwing point of impact to the right, and possibly shearing off or deforming the soft indexing pin and/or damaging the receiver. I had one where the POI was left, meaning the nut had to be tightened more. A properly set-up upper should give a POI on-center (within an inch, which is better than most people can shoot) at 50 yds with the aperture centered. Assemblers sometimes will support the upper in a certain way and hit the FSB with a big mallet to whack it into line by rotating the barrel in the desired direction.
