New guy with easy question.  I just bought a Bushmaster carbine with a fixed carry handle that was produced in 1999 as a Y2K Special model.  The rear sight does not have the finger-adjustable wheel for elevation, it has the side mounted wheel with small holes for side-side adjustments.  It looks like the front sight is adjustable for elevation.  Are these A-1 or A-2 sights?  I'm not up on the terminology.  I wonder why this model doesn't have the elevation wheel like the other Bushmasters that I've seen lately.  This is my first AR.

Those would be called 'A1' sights (which is funny because they are the same sights that were on the original M16).  Colt has also called them 'field sights' - which is appropriate.

They are the better design for a carbine - the uber-adjustable A2 sights are better for use on nice KD ranges.
