| I've assembled a rock river arms AR from stripped receivers, barrel is a 1-7 not RRA. I zero'd the aimpoint onto paper at 100 yrds. Then I went to zero the iron sights. It's way over the target not even on paper. I'd say almost 2 feet over zero. I did not have a front sight tool at the time but that seems like a lot of adjustment. Will I be able to dial the front sight high enough to be able to get it onto paper or do I need to look at other problems? |

Would help to know what receiver (a-2 or 3) and what sights.
If you are using a A-3 receiver with a carry handle and carbine barrel, then the FSB should be a F model that is .040 higher than a standard 20" barrel model, that solves the problem. Same goes for sights, since if you have a front sight that is suposed to attack to a float tube, but is attached to a weaver FSB, then the front sight will be too low as well. Regarding standard rear sights, the sight should be zero'd about three clicks off the bottom, then the dial set to afterwards via the set screw. |

Spin the front sight post until the top of it is flush with the top of the FSB.
If the rifle is still shooting high, there is a .040" taller front sight post available. If you are beyond this, then time to pull the barrel to make sure that you have it seated correctly in the upper receiver barrel socket correctly, and that you did not bend the socket to now have the barrel pointing upwards in the receiver off center line. |
