I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the Sightmark magnifiers? I did a search first and nothing relavent popped up. I realize that Sightmark is on the more budget end of things. Im looking for a 3-5X magnifier with a flip to side mount for the occasional longer range shots (ie: pratical rifle shoots where targets may be at 200yards). Im currently running an EOTech 512 on my M4. SG has the 3X on sale for $89 and the 5X on sale for $108. I was thinking of getting a 5X. I realize this is not going to be the same quality as an EOTech unit but Im just wondering if its decent enough to use maybe 1-2 times per month. Appreciate any feedback I can get. Thanks in advance

I had the 3x with flip to side, or rather slide to side if using the Sightmark mount. The clarity is great, however for me the eye relief was very short. I sold it to my cousin, who keeps his rifle here so I still use it regularly. He has it paired with the Sightmark holographic sight and together it's a nice budget combo!
I originally bought the 7x and was very disappointed... however I commented about it here I believe? and was immediately contacted by Sightmark CS who went over and above anything I have every experienced with a company to make it right. I can say with certain that they have AWESOME customer service!!! As far as the magnifier is concerned, if you run BUIS, you'll likely run out of flat top space unless you have a monolithic type rail or plan to mount them forward. Even when flipped down, the sights would rub, in fact I think my cousin took his rear BUIS off because it was just too cluttered. When the magnifier is slid over, you can obviously flip up your rear sight, but the balance is off. Personally I would lean towards the smaller magnification model based on size. I would definitely recommend these products to someone looking for a good budget optic, and if you're not happy, I know they'll make it right. |

I pulled one of each of the magnifiers we carry when I was purchasing my own, I settled on the Vortex as the best combination of price and performance. We have the magnifier alone is $129: http://www.opticsplanet.net/vortex-vmx3-magnifier.html With the swing mount, $249: http://www.opticsplanet.net/vortex-optics-vmx3-magnifier-w-swing-mount.html There are certainly less expensive ways to mount the magnifier. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first of the Burris AR Pivot Rings: http://www.opticsplanet.net/burris-xtreme-tactical-picatinny-weapon-ring-tops-ar-pivot-ring-30mm-for-ar-tripler-4.html Mark H. |
